About Me
Hi. I’m Jennifer Williams. I’ve been a photographer my whole life, starting when I got an SLR film camera as a teenager.
And as an animal lover, my first subjects were our family’s three cats — Barrymore, Emily and Vito. I appreciated their beauty and grace. They hung out in our yard and I followed them with my camera, like paparazzi stalking a celebrity. But unlike photographers shooting Hollywood stars, I never got a hand (or in this case a paw!) blocking my shot, or was the target of a thrown drink or a punch. The cats were easy. And they never told me that taking their picture would break my camera, which my Nana warned me of every time I lifted my camera to take her photo.
I’ve always been drawn to the art of black and white photography — from the Hollywood glamour shots of the ‘30s and ‘40s to the street photography of the ‘60s. While getting my MFA in photography I learned how to develop and print B&W film. I continued honing these skills while working as a photographer for a weekly newspaper on Long Island.
Eventually, life took me in various directions — including a career in the mental health field, founding an emergency housing start-up, and owning my own dog walking business.
And then I found myself coming full circle to my first two loves: photography and animals. I look forward to creating distinctive portraits of your dog that you will really love!
